Game Night Yet Again

So for our most recent family game night, we decided to play the Wii instead of board games. And...not just any ole' Wii game....but the Obstacle Course on the Wii Fit Plus! So below are pics and scores...

Remberto wins with 580 points!!

Kennidy got 577 points! Close second place!

I took third place. You can barely see, but I only got 552 points!

Linda got 385 points

Sadly, Steven didn't even score....he tried twice, but couldn't go far enough to score

Even Sidney tried!

So, Steven and Sidney switched to playing something they BOTH like better...Mario Kart!

Miss Sidney is 18 Months Old

Our pride and joy is growing up! We've made it to 18 months! What a blessing this sweetie pie is! Can't imagine a day without her.
She currently weighs 22 1/2 lbs. and is 30 1/2 inches tall. Everything at her doctor's appt. today went well. She is still on the smaller size (comparatively), but that's just how her momma likes her!

Kennidy and I have been trying to keep track of all the new things Sidney does these days so that I would be able to share her accomplishments with you so...here's what we have jotted down....

--Lately she has liked to "share" EVERYTHING with her baby doll. She "feeds" her doll snacks. She sometimes takes her doll with her into the car and wants it strapped into the carseat, too.Recently Sidney bumped her head and I put ice on it for her and then she brought me her doll and pointed to the doll's head so that I would put ice on baby doll's head, too. Too cute! Sometimes Sid will pull off baby doll's clothes and take her to the bathroom and place baby doll in the bathtub for her bath!

--Sid has grown to enjoy reading more and more. I'll find her rocking in her rocking chair with a book in her lap...just turning pages and mumbling things. She has a couple favorite stories these days. One is 5 Little Monkeys (who jump on the bed). The other is Big and Small. She brings me those 2 books over and over again, daily!

--She says many words...Momma has turned into Mommy now. Dadda has become Daddy. So sweet! She says: Sis, juice, Bra-der (we're working on "Brother"), Bo-Bo, ba-ba, yuck, teddy, bird, ball, please, and probably some others I can't recall right now. More so than speaking, she understands so much and tries hard to explain what she wants. For example.......

--She will put her finger into her wide open mouth if she is hungry or thirsty (so you kinda gotta guess). She puts her head to the side (like laying it on her shoulder) when she wants to find/hold her "lovey".

--She will ask for Daddy sometimes and I'll tell her he is sleeping and she will put her finger to her lips and say "shhhhh".

--I got her a little "potty" because she has been fascinated with the whole potty experience. For now she just sits on it (fully clothed) when Mommy goes potty and we discuss using the potty, etc., etc. Her little mind wants to understand, but probably just isn't ready to grasp predicting when she needs to go. So, for now we are just getting used to the idea.

--She brushes her teeth (after Mommy brushes them first).

--She loves to "drive". She'll stand on the drivers seat and turn the wheel and puch buttons, etc. I always knwo when Daddy let her "drive" my car because I'll turn it on and blinkers and lights and music and wipers will all come on!!
--She is still a timid and observant one. Very contemplative when meeting people, but she warms up quickly (usually).

--She naps from 12-2 and goes to bed at 6:30/7 each night and STILL wakes me up at least once a night. That's an ever-ongoing work in progress to end. We have gotten it down from 2 a night to about just once a night.

--Almost forgot..........her favorite show (the only show she "watches") is Yo Gabba Gabba.

Happy 18 months, Sid! We love you!

...And We All Fall Down...

It's one injury after another around here! First my back last week and now Sidney's FACE yesterday! Miss Sidney was playing outside in the backyard and was running from the grass onto the concrete and tripped. She fell face down onto the concrete. OUCH. After some careful examination, and phone calls to both her pediatrician AND her dentist, it was decided that since her teeth were still solidly intact and most bleeding had stopped, the worst we may be dealing with is the cosmetic aftermath.

She didn't like the idea of me trying to hold ice to her cut and swollen lips, so I allowed her to eat as many popsicles as she wanted!! Well, after 2 popsicles and some meds, mom decided a bath would be a good idea. The bath turned out to be a good distraction and I was even able to examine the "road rash" while telling her I was washing her face!!

She was quite the trooper. Better than momma, actually! She even slept through the night! That makes night #10 (maybe) since she was born!! Below are some pics from this morning (the day after the incident).

She likes to blink right when I want to take her picture

Play Ball

Remberto recently played in a fundraising baseball game, with some of his his fellow deputies, in support of The City of Altadena's Little League. The deputies played against a team of little leaguers...and...let's just say...those little leaguers now have bragging rights!!

I wasn't able to watch him play,so these pictures were provided to us by another spectator.

Random-ness

We have all been so BUSY lately! My blogging has gotten a bit behind. So, I thought I'd add a random installment this time to catch everyone up on a bit of everything that has been going on with the Candelario's. Hmmm...where to begin....I'll be selfish and talk about me first...
I have been working hard at growing my Avon business little by little....and I am totally enjoying it! To date I have 2 recruits under my wing and several loyal customers whom I love helping! I even made an assistant out of Sidney! She likes to "read" through my brochures and find fun things!

Remberto continues to excel at work, recently becoming a field training officer. He currently works the night shift, then sleeps all morning and early afternoon, but gets up in time to help kids with homework and me with dinnertime!!

Kennidy is enjoying her first year in junior high!! She has been taking Algebra this year. In 7th grade!! I know I didn't even start taking Algebra until about my junior or even senior year in high school. Needless to say, I am useless in helping her with anything related to math at this point! She calls her dad for that! She is also in an honors English class (that I can and enjoy helping her with)!! As I have posted in the past, she enjoys volleyball and has about 2 tournaments a month with a national volleyball fesitval coming up in Arizona in June.

Kennidy and I recently had dinner with my brother, Jamie's girlfriend, Ashley and her sister, Ariel...at the Melting Pot! The four of us ladies had a wonderful time of drinks, fondue and Avon! Here's a picture of me and Kennidy from that night out!

Steven started baseball practices a couple weeks ago and had Opening Ceremonies today. He is on the Mariners this season and is close to, if not, the best little dude out there! Pictures to come....I missed opening ceremonies today! Ooops.

Linda has made a friend across the street and they enjoy spending alot of time together. They make bead necklaces and do alot of drawings and coloring and fun, crafty things. Linda is in fourth grade and about to begin work on the infamous fourth grade missions project!!

Miss Sidney is a little jewel. So smart! There is much more to come about this little gem as she is about to turn 18 months old......next week!!! Here is a picture of her so happy with herself because she got her baby to "sit" beside her on her carseat in daddy's car!! We work hard for smiles from this little one, so enjoy these!!!

Last, but not least, back to ME!!!! Last week I was being stupid by standing ON my kitchen counter, reaching for something, when I slipped and landed on my butt on the counter (and was in sudden and complete agony). Then somehow managed to end up on the tile floor on my back. Ouch! Kennidy had to go wake Remberto up to help me off the floor (which took quite some time). After several hours of fighting the inevitable, I ended up in the ER with the help of my brother, Jamie, and Ashley....who waited for me the whole 2 hours I was there and even drove me home afterwards!! (Remberto stayed home with the kids at my insistence). Here is a pic of me in the ER.

In case you're wondering, my back is SLOWLY getting better. Tomorrow will be a week since the mishap and I see many more weeks of muscle strengthening in my future! Trust me, I took my back for granted over the years. Amazing how hard it is to even put my own socks on these days!!

So...there you have it...a little bit of everything.

Off to the Zoo We Go!

Spring Break Fever!!!!! I had to get everyone out of the house!!!!!!! So....we decided to go to the Orange County Zoo......with my sister Sonya, her husband, Erik, and their son, Gavin. The Orange County Zoo is located inside Irvine Regional Park. It is a small scale zoo that is home to many rescued animals. The park itself was beautiful, complete with a pond for paddle boating, pony rides, a train, many picnic areas, and lots of hiking trails. We had a great time.

Gavin got his hand stamped!

Sidney pets a goat

Erik makes a new friend

So sweet

Who's the bigger turkey?

This gentleman answered many of our questions and told us alot about how this particular zoo acquires its animals
